2010 February 8
Burberry Worldwide
(NEW YORK) Burberry is the latest label to jump on the digital bandwagon by livestreaming its Fall 2010 show—but the Chris Bailey-helmed brand is taking the concept a step further with fêtes all over the world and the addition of 3D. Burberry’s runway show will take place at The Chelsea College of Art in London at 4 p.m. on February 23 as part of London Fashion Week, but those missing the London leg can experience the show almost as though they were in the front row themselves. Private events in New York, Paris, Dubai, and Tokyo will reveal the runway show in 3D and real-time (4 p.m. in London means 11 a.m. in New York, 5 p.m. in Paris, 9 p.m. in Dubai, and 1 a.m. in Tokyo) in spaces designed just for the celebration by Bailey himself—New York’s showing will take place at Skylight Studios, while Paris’ will take place at Colette. As for Los Angeles? As the show will be happening at 8 a.m. in L.A. (too early for some chicsters?), the event will not take place live, but rather with an event later in the day hosted by Tina Brown.
“We are very excited to announce that we are hosting the first ever truly global fashion show,” said Bailey in a release. “This unprecedented event will enable people to experience the energy and atmosphere of this show from around the world. 3D technology will bring our global audience into the London show space allowing them to see the colors and fabrics, to hear the music and to be a part of that moment when it all finally comes together.'' Those in between Burberry’s major capital cities, not to worry: he show will also stream (although only in 2D) live.burberry.com, where viewers can watch and comment on the show in real time using their Facebook and Twitter accounts.
