Bailey Good!
(LONDON) Is Burberry turning into the British version of Chanel? Over the last few seasons, Christopher Bailey’s shows in London became master displays of epic production and proportion attracting press, guests, celebrities, and editors from around the world all for the sake of twenty minutes of fashion heaven. Take yesterday’s show at the Chelsea College of Art and Design: front row included Kristen Stewart, Kate Hudson (who kept making faces to stylist Rachel Zoe every time she saw something she liked), Mary Kate Olsen, Mia Wasikowska, Claire Danes, Jamie Campbell Bower, and Twiggy. Every major editor was in the house, and Stefano Tonchi sat next to Carolina Hererra out of all people, just two seats down from Anna Wintour. Julia Restoin Roitfeld was delegated to second, while Bailey personally invited bands like One Night Only, The Kooks and Snow Patrol to enjoy the show live. While Emma Watson was stuck at work, her brother Alex represented the family. And as if the English spectacle wasn’t enough, the company held five simultaneous 3D private live screenings of the collection around the world in Paris, New York, Dubai, Tokyo and Los Angeles live from London. Empire, indeed.
